Overview

DFW area cosmetic dentist, Dr. Joshua Foreman offers his patients at Bella Vita Dentistry oral conscious sedation options to ease the jitters, relax the mind, and make going to the dentist a lot less stressful. Whether it is for a routine check-up, a restoration, or an emergency situation, Dr. Foreman can help these patients get through their appointment with a small dosage of a sedative taken before the appointment. When you can to make an appointment at our Trophy Club, TX office, please indicate that you would like to be considered for sedation dentistry, even if it is for only a cleaning. We want to make sure you are calm and comfortable so that every dental visit can provide you with healthy teeth and gums with regular cleanings to tooth restorations or surgery.

What to Expect

To prepare yourself or your child for the dentist with oral conscious sedation, you will need to fill the prescription for the medication at your pharmacy. The medication will need to be taken as prescribed, typically an hour before the procedure or treatment is to take place. The medication will start to make you feel really relaxed, but not asleep (it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep with this medication). If you are having a really long procedure or a complex treatment, Dr. Foreman may prescribe a larger dose of medication. Regardless, if you take the sedative, you will not be able to drive before or after the appointment, and you should arrange for transportation home.

Costs

The price for oral conscious sedation runs around $250. Dr. Foreman will determine the appropriate medication for the patient's needs, age, weight, height, and length of the procedure.
