One of the best preventative dental measures you can provide yourself or your child is to safeguard against bacteria from forming in the mouth with professional fluoride treatments. At Bella Vita Dentistry, we offer fluoride treatments to not only ward off bacteria that leads to decay and cavities, but to strengthen dental enamel for a strong, healthy smile. Cosmetic and general dentist, Dr. Joshua Foreman routinely provides fluoride therapy to patients age 6 months – 16-years-of-age, but will consider implementing it for adults, who have a lot of cavities or poor oral health. While most toothpastes and water in the United States contains fluoride (in small amounts), it still may not be at a therapeutic level for children with developing teeth or adults that need extra care for damaged teeth.

"I am a new patient and had a chipped front tooth. They got me in the same day and my teeth look better than ever. Great staff and Dr. Foreman is outstanding. I couldn't be happier with the service and will be taking my family back for all of our dental care."- C.M. / Facebook / May 24, 2018
"Excellent customer service from the staff and the utmost professionalism from Dr. Foreman.A recent job change put me in the market for a dentist that would accept my new insurance. Bella Vita Dentistry was high on the list and now I see why. Everything was explained to me in very clear and concise language and I was made aware of all costs, both out of pocket and covered.Dr. Foreman's staff is excellent and made me very comfortable during my most recent procedure. Dr. Foreman himself was also wonderful. On my first visit a thorough check-up revealed some minor issues that had previously been missed by my previous dentist. My most recent visit included a major procedure and it was handled promptly and with no issues. I was in and out with a new crown in a couple of hours...not the two weeks it takes at some other places! This location is a bit out of my way, but there is a new one opening very close to where I live. I plan on being a patient here for a long time to come."- N.R. / Google / May 23, 2018
What to Expect
You can expect that your dentists may use acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF) or neutral sodium fluoride, depending on the condition of your teeth. At your regular cleaning, we provide our patients with professional fluoride treatments every 6 months, which may be gel, foam, or varnish that is applied to dried, clean teeth for 1 – 4 minutes. It is best not to swallow the fluoride treatment.
Treatment & Aftercare
After your professional dental cleaning with the fluoride therapy, it is best not eat, drink, or smoke for at least a half an hour after the treatment to let the fluoride access the enamel. Please take into consideration that if some of the fluoride is swallowed after the application, you could become nauseous. Of course, the treatment is safe and effective, and you can call us afterward if you have questions about aftercare.
Depending on your insurance provider, the fluoride treatment may be covered as preventative care, which is usually included in a dental exam and cleaning. However, if you are paying out-of-pocket, instead of paying for expensive dental work in the future that fluoride can help prevent, please consider investing in $20 – $50.
