Types of Treatments
Laser Enhanced Gum Surgery
The gums serve as a barrier between the teeth and the environment the mouth is exposed to every day, so patients with receding gums are at a higher risk of developing cavities and other oral health problems. Cosmetic and general dentist, Dr. Joshua Foreman may recommend gum recession surgery or a minimally invasive alternative known as the Chao® Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST) for his patients at Bella Vita Dentistry. Gum recession surgery and gum contouring procedures can restore the gum line, but some patients are better candidates for the Chao PST, a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery. This is a gentle procedure that can return the gum line to a healthier level in a single visit. Patients enjoy immediate cosmetic benefits and a fast healing time.
Fillings Without Shots
One of the most exciting new treatments we can offer with the LightWalker laser is virtually pain-free cavity preparations without anesthetic injections and numbness. While the laser does not replace the dental drill in every case, when it does you will love the absence of the drill whine and vibration!
Root Canal Therapy
Patients who receive a root canal will save their tooth from further decay as well as maintain their beautiful smile. The major benefit of a root canal with the LightWalker laser is the ability to treat the tooth without needing an extraction or dental implant. Root canals are able to treat the interior depths of the tooth without causing further harm or damage. Dr. Foreman has received enhanced training on the use of the LightWalker and Photon Induced Photoacoustic Streaming (PIPS™) to treat infected root canals. Patients who have had this form of laser treatment report that they have little or no discomfort after the procedure.
Gingival recontouring, or gum reshaping, with lasers offers a noninvasive treatment to correct gums that may be receding, abnormally uneven, or excessively large. With the right balance of teeth and gums, your smile can be improved with a quick procedure using the LightWalker laser in our office.
Cold Sores & Oral Lesions
Removing canker sores, cold sores, and precancerous lesions with the LightWalker laser system can be a noninvasive treatment completed in minutes at our office without anesthesia. Many of our patients worry that having sores in the mouth removed would be extremely painful. The good news is that this treatment is fast and painless.
Many patients need to have the frenum under the tongue or upper lip reduced in order to have a less restricted movements of the tongue (tongue-tied) or lip to improve health related problems with eating, breastfeeding, obstruction for orthodontic treatment, or speech limitations. At Bella Vita, we can use the LightWalker laser to gently dispel (we will not excise) the soft tissue with no bleeding. Healing and recovery time is generally very fast without stitches or sutures.
When you have a gummy smile (where your gums cover the natural gum line of the teeth), you used to have to have a surgical procedure to remove excess gum tissue. Now, with the LightWalker laser, Dr. Foreman can reduce the amount of gum tissue shortening your teeth, and give you a beautiful new gum line showing more of the crown of your teeth.
Laser Teeth Whitening
We offer in-office teeth whitening with the Lightwalker laser system as well for fast results without damaging your teeth or causing sensitivity. Your teeth can look bright and white within a single session in our office, and is safe to have laser whitening before a big event for a picture perfect smile.

Gum Surgery FAQs
What Is Gum Recession?
When the gums start to pull away from the roots of the teeth because of gum disease or they wear away from using the wrong tooth brushing technique, patients may experience some degree of gum recession. Receding gums can make the teeth more sensitive and appear larger than normal. Laser gum reshaping surgery can improve the patient’s oral health and smile.
Dr. Foreman is one of a few doctors in the United States certified to perform this highly regarded procedure, Pinhole Surgical Technique. PST requires no cutting, no stitches, and has little to no downtime. PST works by loosening the gum tissue with uniquely designed tools and gently guiding the receded gum back to its normal position. This laser also allows Dr. Foreman to treat gum (periodontal) disease right in his office. The treatment is a gentle and effective way to stop the damage being done by the infection in the gums. Patients who have had this form of laser treatment report that they have little or no discomfort after the procedure.
Coming in for dental cleanings and oral checkups on schedule is one way to help prevent gum recession and many other oral health issues. Using the proper tooth brushing technique, eating a well-balanced diet, and breaking teeth grinding habits can also help to prevent receding gums at any age. A diligent brushing and flossing routine can reduce the risk of gum disease that may lead to gum recession.
